Oh what a night! Oh what a year! We had a full house at our Annual General Meeting on Monday, October 24, 2016 at Burnaby Neighbourhood House. We were honoured to have past & present Board members, staff and volunteers present to welcome our new Board members.
After the business portion of the meeting, Blanca Salvatierra, our LEAD and Building Bridges facilitator, shared former participant and current PIRS staff member, Shinda’s story and the impact PIRS had on her life. Rasha Moursey, Outreach Support Worker, then shared a slide show and talked about her experiences in the Pop-Up Family Program for refugees that we delivered in the spring.
Following the presentations, participants were invited to share a PIRS story in order to win a “door prize” and we would like to thank the following individuals who spoke about PIRS’ impact: Anna Xia, Bev Nann, PIRS founding Executive Director, Eman AlThaher, Mai Khallaf, Mohammed Alsaleh (IssofBC), and Rasha Moursey.
A heartfelt hank you to our volunteer photographers, Nuria Sefchovich and Jes Simkin.
