PIRS celebrated its 35th Anniversary at Hycroft Manor on October 20, 2010.  Our celebration was an event the honoured the winners of PIRS’ first-ever Bright Lights Awards.  PIRS members, staff and community supporters joined the winners’ families and friends in Hycroft’s gracious reception rooms for a program that highlighted and celebrated the accomplishments of the ten remarkable women who are the 2010 Bright Lights Award wiunners. 

CBC Radio journalist and former PIRS Board Chair Priya Ramu served as event MC and introduced each Award winner after current Board Chair Inge Bailey noted some of the many highlights in PIRS’ 35 yar history of serving immigrant women and their children in the Greater Vancouver area.

The Bright Lights Award program is a new PIRS initiative, created to honour and share the stories of immigrant women who have become inspiring leaders and role models in a variety of fields, from science and business to social services and broadcasting.
