Building Bridges is a program offered by PIRS that aims to provide immigrant women with the skills for their future career plans. Huda found meaningful social relationships upon joining the Building Bridges program, and discovered her passion along the way:
“Building Bridges was my first program in Canada, three weeks after I arrived. The program is as diverse as Canada it was for me the first window of social life in Canada and my first Network Relationships. We learned and shared experiences. I continued my relationship with the PIRS as an ambassador, as well as a volunteer with other organizations. And now I’m working with PIRS as an outreach support worker. I am very grateful to be a part of this wonderful organization and its outstanding staff.
I am interested in promoting awareness of belonging and the importance of social support. And through this program, while participating in the workshop of the women’s conference I identified my project, which I called “breathe and belong”. I am still working on the development of my project.”
By continuing her crucial work in promoting social support and belonging, Huda takes the skills she acquired through her participation and hard work and uses it to make a difference in others’ lives. In continuing our mission to empower immigrant and refugee women, we offer such programs to make this vision into reality.
