DESCRIPTION:‘Story Time’ is a group program for immigrant women and their young children that focuses on learning rhymes\, stories and songs together as a way for mothers and children to develop language skills and to relax and have fun together.\nThe program is for families with young children (from babies to 5 years old) who want to learn ways to help their children’s language development and to meet and learn with other families.\nThe benefit of the program includes learning basic\, everyday English\, and simple children’s songs\, stories and rhymes which will encourage growth in language development and social skills.  For the families\, this is also an opportunity to find out about other resources\, meet people\, make friends and have fun.

SUMMARY:Online Children's Early Learning Program (Channel - UMO)
DESCRIPTION:Online Early Learning Children’s Program\nGet parenting support to help your young children learn and develop! This new online program will take place during the months of June and July\, 2020. Parents with children between 18 months to 5 years of age are encouraged to participate in our virtual classes to make friends\, read stories\, create art\, and participate in a lot of other fun learning activities.Join us to engage with other immigrant and refugee families\, build connections\, and find support during these challenging times! \nOur aim is to keep class sizes small (15 participants)\, so you can feel comfortable to ask questions and socialize. Each week\, there will be 45 minutes of virtual instruction\, and 1 hour of at-home\, self-paced practice. All you need to participate is internet access and an internet compatible device\, and the enthusiasm to engage in fun\, interactive activities. \nIf you need support to register for this class\, call 604.298.5888 or email the Outreach Support Worker\, Huda\, at programs@pirs.bc.ca and request for the ‘Online Children’s Channel – UMO’.
