Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS) has over 45 years of experience working with immigrant and refugee women and a long history of participatory empowerment. Our vision is a society that honours the strengths of diverse women and empowers their contributions. Our mission is to deliver accessible, inclusive, low-barrier programs for immigrant and refugee women and their children that create a sense of belonging, meaningful participation and leadership.

We are excited that Workout for Women’s Day 2023 has chosen PIRS as one of the four selected charities for their 5th year anniversary campaign! Workout for Women’s Day is a coming together of local movement studios and instructors around International Women’s Day to offer by-donation classes for charities that support girls, women, and other humans who experience gender discrimination.

There will be classes all day, every day from March 3-8 across Vancouver and online – dance, spin, strength, yoga, pilates, crossfit, martial arts, and more – and we hope you can join!

All money donated to PIRS through Workout for Women’s Day will be directed to our trauma-informed programs such as, English classes and children and family programs. Trauma-informed programs take into account the role trauma plays in a person’s life. These programs empower immigrant and refugee women and their children, while also giving them the skills to find jobs and settle into Canadian life.

Whether you join a class, donate, or spread the word about PIRS and Workout for Women’s Day, you are making a difference. Your contribution will empower hundreds of refugees and immigrant women and their children as they navigate settlement challenges in Canada.
