Child Care Training

Pop-Up Child Care is operated on a cost-recovery basis. Any profit made is re-invested in training immigrant and refugee women through Pathways to Childcare Careers program.

Through the Pathways to Childcare Careers Program, newcomer women gain child care training with a trauma-informed approach. Participants receive Responsible Adult, Food Safe, and First Aid certifications, and develop advanced English and pre-employment skills.

Highlights

  • 200+ graduates trained since the start of the Pathways Program in 2022
  • Successful graduates have received employment as school age child care workers, before/after school care workers, and on-call/casual workers for licensed child care centers.
  • Successful graduates have further pursued their education through various ECEA and ECE programs in BC.
  • Ongoing industry partnerships with Burnaby/Kiwassa/Kitsilano Neighborhood Houses, YWCA Metro Vancouver, ISS of BC, Cameray, and other non-profit organizations support this social project.
