Our community comes together every year to support immigrant and refugee women and children by participating in the Vancouver Half Marathon (VHM). This year PIRS is running to raise funds for our trauma-informed programs, which help immigrant and refugee women settle into Canadian society.

The Vancouver Half Marathon will be taking place on June 25th, 2023. The virtual event will be taking place from June 1 to June 30th, 2023. The race registration options are Half Marathon, 5K, Kids run, Hybrid Threepeat (in person 21k, virtual 10K, virtual 5K). To learn more or to register, click here.

This year our goal is to raise $15,000 in support of our trauma-informed programs. With the help of staff, participants and donors, last year we raised over $10,000 in support of the PIRS Crisis Fund and are hoping to raise over $15,000 this year! Thanks to staff, participants and donors, funds raised went towards serving 942 women and 374 children across 22 programs. Comparatively the increase was 112%.

Past participant and PIRS staff member, Valerie shares why she participates in the marathon, “This is my 5th year joining the 5K run for PIRS! At PIRS, I have the opportunity to meet many immigrant and refugee women and children. I am blessed to be able to be a part of their journey when they settle down in Canada. I hope to raise more funds to support newcomer women and children arriving in BC.”
