Overview
Are you a newcomer woman who is interested in working in the early learning and childcare field? Our 3-month occupation-specific English training program can help you prepare for success in your career. We offer 80 hours of practicum experience to give you hands-on experience and valuable skills.
Why join
PIRS Childcare Careers program is designed to help you:
- Develop and improve occupational English skills specific to the childcare sector: vocabulary, regulations, and job search
- Understand Early Childhood Milestones
- Understand trauma-informed approaches to early learning
- Improve essential and digital skills
- Access information and resources to secure employment in the childcare industry
- Develop pre-employment skills – such as interview preparedness and resume writing

- Employment counseling and connections to work opportunities in the field
- Bus tickets and childcare provided for in person sessions
Who it’s for
This program is for immigrant women who:
- are permanent residents or protected persons
- speak English at an Intermediate level (CLB 5 or equivalent; assessment coordination can be provided if needed)
- able to attend all program sessions
- have completed full COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses of an approved vaccine)
- Final acceptance is contingent on the Criminal Record Check clearance.

Please complete this form to apply for the Pathways to Childcare Careers Program. Eligible applicants will be contacted closer to the start of the next cohort, as space becomes available.
