Building Bridges Programs

Empowering Newcomer Women to Thrive, Lead, and Connect
At the Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS), we believe that every woman deserves the opportunity to reach her full potential—regardless of where her journey began. The Building Bridges Program is a powerful 20-week initiative that supports immigrant and refugee women as they navigate the challenges of settlement and build confident, connected lives in Canada.
This transformative program equips participants with the tools, confidence, and community connections they need to take the next steps in their personal and professional journeys. It’s more than a training series—it’s a space for growth, belonging, and leadership.
What the Program Offers
- Skill-building workshops in public speaking, facilitation, digital and financial literacy
- Project-based learning where participants design and lead a small community initiative
- Mentorship & individualized support tailored to each woman’s goals
- Community connection through networking opportunities and peer-led collaboration
- Confidence & capacity building to empower women as changemakers in their families and communities
Who It Serves
The Building Bridges Program is designed for skilled immigrant and refugee women with intermediate English proficiency (CLB 6–7). Many participants have professional experience in their countries of origin but face barriers to fully participating in Canadian society due to language, cultural, and systemic challenges.
Our Impact
When you support Building Bridges, you invest in women who are resilient, resourceful, and ready to lead. Your support helps:
- Break isolation and foster meaningful belonging
- Unlock underutilized talent in our communities
- Build pathways to employment, education, and leadership
- Inspire women to pay it forward by contributing to their communities
Each participant emerges from the program not only with new skills—but with a renewed sense of identity and possibility.
Why It Matters
Building Bridges is more than a program—it’s a launching pad. When newcomer women are empowered, entire families and communities benefit.
