Food Hub – Vancouver and Burnaby
Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS) has identified that access to food is one of the top 5 basic needs in the immigrant and refugee communities. The COVID-19 crisis has affected a majority of newcomer families, with over 50% reporting loss of income, as well financial and housing instability. In collaboration with donors, PIRS has started two community-based food hubs to help immigrant and refugee families struggling with food insecurity. The two locations are at South Vancouver Family Place and Journey Home in Burnaby, where a majority of our clients are based, and families can either pick up bags from the hub or are delivered the bags.
