Call for Board Members
Over 50 years ago, a group of visionary and committed immigrant women identified a need for programs that would support the settlement of isolated immigrant women. Today, PIRS remains one of the few organizations across the Lower Mainland dedicated to addressing the unique needs and challenges of immigrant and refugee women and their children through programs that have empowered thousands to gain the knowledge, skills, confidence and friendships needed to feel at home and to open doors to participation and more meaningful engagement in Canadian society.
We are seeking individuals with a passion for our cause, to join our governance board and help us achieve our strategic goals. As a board member you will contribute to the governance of the organization, providing leadership, oversight, planning, ideas and networks so that we continue to grow, engage our stakeholders and continually enhance our brand and reputation within the communities we serve. In return, you get to directly enable critical supportive programs for newcomer and refugee women with a dynamic and committed team.
PIRS recognizes the importance of diversity and works to ensure that there is diversity throughout the organization, including around the board table. We encourage applicants with lived experience of structural inequity to apply, and in particular those who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, LGBTQ2SIA+, and those living with a visible or invisible disability.

- Previous board experience
- 5+ years of fund development or fundraising
- stakeholder/ donor development and engagement
- 5+ years of financial expertise including risk assessment and financial sustainability
